| When the wedge press is activated the Air Cylinder
starts it's movement out pushing the wedge out between the Fixed Bearing and
the Movable Bearing. The first 4 inches of the wedge have a 45 degree angle.
This angle causes the Dovetail Slide and Heater Head to move down quickly at a
pressure determined by the force created by the Air Cylinder. At 100 psig
the 4.5 Diameter Air Cylinder will produce about 1600 pounds of force. |
